How to update Apache/PHP or add modules using EasyApache3 in cPanel

EasyApache is a pre-configured script that allows you to easily update Apache Web server through WHM or SSH.

Requirements:

  • Root SSH access to your VPS/Server

EasyApache3 has been replaced by EasyApache4 in newer systems, please check your version before using this guide.

Steps

  1. Log in as root through SSH.
  2. Run EasyApache: /scripts/easyapache
  3. Select the options you want for your configuration (Press 6 and then 'Enter')
  4. Select the configuration options for the Apache build process. (Press space bar to select/deselect which options you want, use arrow keys to move and enter to go to the submenu.)
  5. Select the PHP Module options for more options that are selectable.
  6. Finish the configuration options, 'Exit', 'Exit', "Yes to Save Config"
  7. Apache will recompile with your options and modules - Wait for it to complete, this takes 15-30 minutes depending on the speed of your machine and options selected.
  8. You should see a message that says "httpd started ok". This means you're good to go and Apache is done!
